LASU Fees: Lagos Govt Yet To Reach Decision On Lingering School Fee CrisesBy kellychi 07:55 Wed, 11 Jun 2014 Comments
Students of the Lagos State University, (LASU) who are eagerly anticipating for a favourable decision on the lingering school fees crises were left hanging in the balance, on Tuesday, as the committee set up by the state government on the issue failed to disclose its final decision on the matter.
The students who had, on Tuesday, gathered en masse at the Governor’s Office, Alausa, Ikeja, in continuation of their protest against the hike in school fees by the Governor Babatunde Fashola-led administration, were later dispersed by the police to quell reported traffic gridlock in and out of the office.
The students’ convergence was a follow-up on Monday’s suspension of the committee meeting which reconvened but did not disclose the government’s stance on the fees on Tuesday.
Students’ Union president, Yusuf Temitope, speaking with the liveschoolnews.com.ng grapevine, said the students were forcefully dispersed by the police, adding that they would not relent until the government made its decision known.
The Students, yesterday, were vehemently dispersed by the overzealous Nigeria policemen. This is not fair. Students have the leeway to air grievances. I do hope the Nigeria police will not carry out this illegal, immoral act.
