Xolo Launches New Q1000 Opus With Broadcom Chipset

Okay, so Indian smartphone maker Xolo just announced the Q1000 Opus, a version of the already available Xolo Q1000. It has a 5" 720p classy screen and a quad-core chipset. The Opus doesn’t seem to be a dual-SIM phone like the regular Q1000.

Another incompatibility is that the chipset used is made by Broadcom rather than MediaTek, though both feature quad-core Cortex-A7 Central Processing Units (CPUs) running at 1.2GHz. There is a incompatibility in the GPUs though, the Broadcom chipset uses a VideoCore GPU rather than a PowerVR SGX544.

The Xolo Q1000 Opus has HSPA+, Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) connectivity with Miracast for wireless TV-out, plus GPS and GLONASS positioning. Unfortunately, that's all the info available on the phone correct now.

The Opus will be available for sale by the discontinue of this month, pricing info is not available yet.

Xolo is keen to point out that this marks a recent partnership for chipset supply – the company also has devices with MediaTek, Nvidia and Intel chipsets.
